Medford is located in the southeast corridor of Taylor County and has a population of 4,326. Medford is also the county seat of Taylor County.
The Medford area offers many different recreational opportunities for residents and visitors alike. Medford City Park, Jaycee Park, and Grahl Park all offer recreational areas for children and adults alike. The Medford City South Park has a pool on the grounds, which can be a great place to cool down on a hot summer’s day. To the northwest of the city is a portion of the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest which has the Ice Age Trail for hikers and nature enthusiasts to enjoy. The Pine Line Trail on the northern edge of Medford runs all the way up to Prentice and offers 26 miles of pristine walking and biking trails.
The city is also home to the Taylor County Fairgrounds. The Taylor County Fair is a tradition in the area and falls on the last weekend in July. The fair has many different events for patrons to enjoy including demonstrations, livestock judging, live music, and a demolition derby. There are also special events put on by the fair, like Cans For a Cause. Participants are allowed to create a can sculpture that will be judged and displayed at the fairgrounds. The sculptures are taken down after the fair is over and the canned goods used are donated to local food pantries. The 5K Fun Run is known as the first major event of the fair and is a fun way to kick off the weekend.
Medford’s close location to the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest and both the cities of Tomahawk and Wausau make it an ideal place to live. If you want to live in Medford and experience everything the area has to offer, check out some of the listings below and contact an agent today!
